Access Control That Solves Real Business Problems

Physical keys are an outdated, expensive way to control building access. When an employee leaves, you either change the locks (expensive) or hope they actually returned their keys (risky). You can’t track who entered when. You can’t restrict access to certain times. You can’t disable a single user without changing everything.

Modern access control fixes all of this. Employees use a key fob, a phone, or a PIN code. When someone leaves, you revoke their credential — done in 30 seconds, from anywhere. Every entry is logged with a timestamp. You can restrict access to business hours, specific doors, or specific dates.

We’re proud installers of ProdataKey (PDK) — a cloud-based access control system that’s modern, reliable, and works for businesses from 2 doors to 200+. Total Techs is a certified PDK dealer with deep experience deploying these systems across Southern Idaho.

What’s Included

What You Get

Cloud-Based Management

Manage access from any web browser or mobile app. Add users, revoke credentials, view logs — from anywhere with internet.

Key Fobs & Cards

Traditional credentials still work — proximity fobs and smart cards. Each can be programmed for specific doors, schedules, and users.

Mobile Credentials

Employees use their smartphone to unlock doors via Bluetooth or NFC. No physical credential to lose. Add or revoke in the app.

Audit Logs

Every entry attempt is logged. Search by user, door, date, time. Critical for compliance, incident investigation, and HR situations.

Time-Based Access

Restrict employees to business hours, contractors to scheduled visit times, or visitors to specific days. Granular control.

Camera Integration

When someone uses a credential, the system can pull video from the nearest camera. See who actually entered — not just whose card was used.

FAQ

Common Questions

QWhat does access control cost?

Depends on door count and hardware choice. As a rough range: a basic 4-door system with key fobs runs $4,000-$8,000 installed. Larger installs scale from there. Monthly software fees range from $5-$15 per door per month for the cloud platform.

QWhat is ProdataKey (PDK)?

ProdataKey is a cloud-based access control platform we specialize in. Unlike older access control that requires on-site servers and is hard to manage, PDK runs in the cloud — fast setup, easy administration, mobile apps included, automatic updates. We’re certified PDK installers.

QCan mobile credentials replace key fobs?

Yes — and many businesses do. Employees install the PDK app, present their phone to the reader, and the door unlocks. Each credential can be added or revoked instantly. Good for businesses that don’t want to manage physical fobs.

QHow long does installation take?

Most small commercial installs (4-8 doors) take 1-2 days. Larger installs (20+ doors) take a week. We schedule to minimize disruption — usually doing the door hardware after-hours and the office configuration during business hours.

QDo you integrate with existing keypad locks?

If your existing locks are simple electronic, sometimes yes. If they’re commercial-grade access control of a different brand, usually we recommend replacing the readers/controllers and keeping the door hardware. We assess during the site survey.

QWhat about visitor management?

PDK includes visitor management — generate temporary credentials for contractors, deliveries, after-hours visitors. Time-limited, easily revoked, fully logged. No more hiding keys under mats.
