Phone Systems That Match How You Actually Work

The way most businesses use phones has fundamentally changed. People work from home some days. Multiple locations need to act like one team. Customers expect text messaging, not just voice calls. Mobile workers need to make and receive business calls from their phones — without giving out personal numbers.

Old phone systems were designed for a different era — one office, fixed desks, voice-only. Replacing them with modern cloud-based VoIP gives you flexibility, mobility, lower costs, and features that simply weren’t possible before.

We help Southern Idaho businesses evaluate phone options, migrate from old systems, and get the most from modern phone platforms. Whether you have 5 phones or 500, single location or multi-site, we design and deploy the right system.

Phone Systems Built on Solid Network Infrastructure

VoIP phones depend on good network infrastructure. Bad cabling, undersized switches, or improperly configured QoS lead to choppy calls, dropped connections, and angry users.

Total Techs handles the whole stack — phone system, the network behind it, the cabling, the Wi-Fi for mobile users. One vendor responsible for the entire communications environment. When something goes wrong, you don’t have a phone vendor and a network vendor pointing fingers at each other.

FAQ

Common Business Phone Questions

QHow much do business phone systems cost?

Modern cloud-based VoIP typically costs $20-$45 per user per month, depending on features. That replaces both your old phone system maintenance and your phone bill. For most businesses with old PBX systems, switching to modern VoIP saves money — sometimes significant amounts.

QWill the new system work with our existing phone numbers?

Yes — we port (transfer) your existing phone numbers to the new system. Customers don’t need to know anything changed. Number porting typically takes 5-10 business days and is included in the project.

QWhat if the internet goes down — do we lose phones?

VoIP phones do require internet. But mobile apps continue working on cellular data, and the system can automatically forward incoming calls to mobile numbers when the office internet is down. For businesses that can’t afford any phone downtime, we install dual ISP failover.

QDo we have to buy new phones?

For most clients, yes — modern VoIP phones (Yealink, Poly, Cisco) are inexpensive and provide a much better experience. Some older IP phones can be migrated to new platforms. For users who don’t need a desk phone, mobile apps and desktop softphones replace them.

QWhat about call quality?

Call quality on modern VoIP is excellent — as good or better than traditional phones — when the network is properly configured. We do site assessments to ensure your network can handle VoIP, and we configure QoS so voice traffic is prioritized over other traffic.

QCan multiple locations use the same phone system?

Yes — that’s actually one of the biggest benefits of modern VoIP. All your locations operate as one phone system. Employees can dial extensions between offices. Calls can be routed between sites based on schedules or call queues. One vendor, one bill, one system to learn.
