Automated Entry Gates for Homes & Businesses
From residential driveways to commercial gated facilities, Total Techs designs and installs automated entry gates across the Magic Valley. Swing gates, slide gates, vertical lift gates, and the operators that move them — plus integration with access control, intercoms, and security cameras.
Entry Gates Done Right
An automated entry gate is more than just a gate that opens. It’s a system: the gate itself, the operator that moves it, the access control determining who can enter, the safety devices preventing injuries, and the integration with the rest of your security infrastructure (cameras, intercoms, alarm system).
We design and install entry gates for both residential and commercial properties. Residential: custom driveway gates for high-end homes, ranches, and rural properties. Commercial: gates for industrial yards, secure facilities, gated communities, multi-tenant properties, and other commercial applications.
What separates a properly engineered gate from a problematic one: the right operator for the gate weight and use frequency, proper safety devices (photo eyes, edge sensors, loop detectors), appropriate access control for who needs to enter, and integration with the rest of your security so the whole system works together.

What You Get
Swing Gates
Single or double swing gates — the traditional driveway gate. Best when you have enough room behind the gate for it to swing open. Available in many materials and styles. Quality residential or commercial operators.
Slide Gates
Slide gates roll horizontally — useful when there isn’t room for a swing. Common for commercial applications and tight driveways. Cantilever (no ground track) or V-track designs.
Vertical Lift Gates
For applications where horizontal space is at a premium (parking garages, industrial entries). Vertical lift gates rise straight up. Higher cost but solves space constraints.
Access Control
Keypads, key fobs, smartphone apps, intercom-based release. Integration with the same access control we install for buildings. License plate recognition for hands-free entry to known vehicles.
Safety Devices
Photo eyes (infrared beams that stop gate motion when broken). Safety edges on the gate itself. Loop detectors in the driveway. All required for code-compliant installations and to prevent injuries.
Intercom & Camera Integration
Video intercom at the gate so you can see and talk to visitors before letting them in. Integration with security cameras and your existing security system.
How It Works
Site Assessment
We visit your property, measure the opening, look at terrain, assess electrical service, and discuss your use case.
Design & Quote
Written proposal with gate type, operator spec, access control, safety devices, and pricing. Plus permitting requirements if applicable.
Installation
Most installations done in 2-5 days depending on complexity. Foundation work, gate fabrication/install, operator, wiring, controls.
Test & Training
We thoroughly test the system, train you on operation, and provide ongoing support. Annual maintenance available.
Common Questions
QHow much does an automated entry gate cost?
Highly variable based on gate type, size, materials, operator class, and access control. A basic residential swing gate with operator and basic access control typically starts in the upper four figures. Larger commercial installations with custom fabrication, ANSI-compliant safety, and integration with security systems can run higher. We quote each project after the site assessment.
QDo entry gates need permits?
Sometimes. Depends on jurisdiction, gate size, and whether electrical work requires permitting. For most residential driveway gates, no permit is needed. For commercial gates or significant electrical work, permits may be required. We help you understand what’s needed during the quoting phase.
QHow do safety devices work?
Photo eyes are infrared beams across the gate opening — when broken (a car or person passes through), the gate stops or reverses. Safety edges are pressure-sensitive strips on the gate itself. Loop detectors are wires buried in the driveway that sense vehicles. Required by code; absolutely essential for preventing injuries.
QCan gates work without an internet connection?
Yes — basic gate operation (open/close) works without internet. Cellular access control devices work without internet. Cloud-based features (mobile app, audit logs, remote management) require internet. Most installations include cellular backup for critical features.
QDo you maintain gates after installation?
Yes. Gates require periodic maintenance — operators benefit from annual service, batteries need replacement every few years, safety devices need testing, hinges and tracks need lubrication. We offer annual maintenance plans for residential and commercial gates.
